Those boots I showed you ages ago have finally had to be retired from active service!
I can't remember exactly how long they have been in use, but I think it is around ten years that I have been wearing them, and almost constantly in the last five anyway! They have been extremely good value for money and I shall be sorry to lose them......
I do have some other walking boots around, but I have found that the ankle support section is too stiff for everyday wear, and will necessitate the wearing of thick walking socks on every occasion.
So, in my best frugal manner, I called in to a Factory Shop whilst I was passing on Saturday, and I had already seen in their flyers that they were having some Karrimor walking shoes in, so I looked for those. I tried on a pair, and they fit beautifully, and are incredibly comfortable. They were a little more than I wanted to spend, at £28 on the tag, but comfort is worth a lot! I was consequently a very happy shopper when they went through the till at £22.
If they last 10 years, that will be just £2.20 a year, and anticipating near daily wear, just fractions of a penny per wear! Bargain....

Are you going to plant up your walking boots, I have just planted up a pair of my granddaughters wellies that split while they were here on holiday :-)
So very satisfying to work out that cost per wear is just pennies. Glad you found replacement boots at such a good price.
I need to buy a decent pair of walking boots, but they all seem to be over $100......will have to keep an eye on the sales.
I'm trying to replace my walking boots at the minute. I had so dearly hoped that mine would last a lifetime. maybe if I'd dubbed them more regularly they would? Any old how, they hurt in two places now and that is not good. So difficult trying to find replacements. It makes me long for the Lake District, where we like to look at gear when on occasional holidays there. My Karrimor walking shoes were bought in Keswick and this will be their second summer. Very comfy still.
I have Karrimor boots from similar place. Can't comment on their durability as I have had them only one year. So far, so good. My previous pair were reduced and reduced and reduced at Hawkshead shop ( sadly closed ). They went on for many years, so new ones have a lot to live up to!
My pair of Regatta boots lasted 4 and a half months! They had holes in the bottoms after that time and only had 200 miles in them.I'm now on the lookout for a replacement pair, and will need them by Autumn.
