Another one

There's another widow on our quiet little street tonight as a neighbour who had had a short but fierce battle with cancer passed away last night.  She is my age and has a daughter in school the year below the YFG.  My heart went out to her tonight when I heard the news, and I have to take some time this weekend to write her a note.  She hadn't had the time to prepare and to consider this huge change as we had, as her husband's illness was relatively short.  I can't begin to imagine how she will cope with the shock and the changes that lie ahead for her.  Sobering thoughts tonight.

Such a shame, so sad.

I had a facebook message from a friend on Thursday morning - and in the evening heard she had died suddenly. It IS so hard when death comes unexpectedly. My heart goes out to the families of people experiencing such grief. It is good of you to send her a note so promptly - you of all people are most able to support her thru this. Bless you for that - because I am sure that as you frame your words, memories of FH will flood back, and your heart will ache. May God cover your little street with His love and peace right now. xxx

Card delivered last night after much deliberation over what to write. I ended up writing a separate note so that she can take that out and put it away if she doesn't want all her visitors to read the ramblings inside the card, as the note is really just for her. She is a very private person and we know only a little about the family, so I have not been able to write much about her husband, more about sharing my experience and offering support if she wants it. All I can do for now xx

The separate note is a wise and thoughtful gesture- just what I'd expect from a caring person like you x
