News update

I've been thinking a lot about what you lovely friends have suggested, and I know that everything you say is wise - thank you.

I have spent time remembering peaceful times in Norfolk when we have been on holiday.

I'm sure that there are other good times ahead, and we will plan some time "away" but close to home this summer.  Actually, a day out here and there will be a treat, because both the FH and I are very glad to sleep in our own bed at night and are always a little unsettled on holidays.

I have had an interview at the Circuit Preachers' meeting this week, last night in fact, and they are pleased with the progress I am making, albeit slow!  They have agreed that I can carry on, thank goodness, because I have already started the next part of the course.  Now I have to have a "trial" service, which is going to happen later this month, at which two preachers and a church steward will assess the service and report back to the meeting.

In other news, I have been getting to grips with Jillian Michaels' way of exercising!  I started easy every other day last week, and moved up to daily repeats of this set of exercises - the level one is about my standard, and I can manage it, so I am happy to continue to build my stamina up - 2 minutes of jumping jacks, jump rope, boxing and butt kicks has the sweat actually dripping off me....I am delighted to report that I have lost 2lb this week, and several inches as well - one each off my waist and hips - so I feel inspired to carry on.  Whether I shall ever progress to level three, we shall see.  It brings me about an hour to myself each morning, including the half hour for the workout and then half an hour to have a shower and dry my hair afterwards - this is a seriously sweaty workout!

And I am knitting......

We couldn't afford to go away last year and had a staycation ie sleeping at home every night. It was one of the best holidays ever and the holiday house was the nicest we'd ever been in!! We had BBQs, swam in the sea and in waterfalls and river pools, took picnics out etc. Let's hope the summer is good for you to enjoy. How are the exams going? x

I should have added that I think many women are fantastic at caring for others but we often neglect ourselves. So take time to pamper yourself x

@SusanM - thank you - your staycation sounds lovely! Exams are going ok - she has one this afternoon....She has had a relatively easy week this week with only two, but she has more next week and the week after - roll on June 20th!

@Mindo - well, frugality is the name of the game, after all - no point in paying out for a DVD when it is free on yootoob, as Ilona calls it! I only found it because some ladies were talking about it on a Slimming World Facebook group that I joined, and said that they had lost inches. Be prepared to perspire...
Thank you for knitting so diligently! I have almost finished my first one of the season xxx

So glad there is positive news and you are making time to look after yourself, it is all too easy to put our own needs last, but for everyone's wellbeing we do need to factor in looking after ourselves. So good on you! The exercise sounds sweaty! I'm enjoying knitting hats, I've had yarn donated & enjoy using up odds & ends which give a good colour blend. Knitting is very therapeutic as it combines a repetitive action with some thinking, but leaves the mind free enough to wander or watch TV. There's lots of info on this & on knitting as a form of pain relief on stitchlinks.com for anyone who wants to seek it out.
Glad the exams are going OK, it's a very stressful time all round. You sound to be coping well. Thinking of you, Vee xx
