The weekly moneysaving email has come through from MSE this morning and there was a fun quiz link on it to see "How tight are you?"
I am apparently 54% tight, because I do things like regifting, re-using tea bags, etc. There are actually quite a few things on the list that I wouldn't do, like not paying my fair share of things when out in a group. There is a line between frugal/thrifty and just plain mean, after all!
If you want to have a go, the link is here.

Oh dear, I am 65% tight. But like you I think there are some things I would never do [like avoiding paying my fair share]
I must stop doing quizzes on the net, and go back to decluttering and filling bags for the charity shop - but thank you for sending me this happy little diversion!!
Off to have a look at that link, I hope I don't come out as mean!!
At 40% tight I must be a bit of a lightweight! It's funny what some people will and won't do - I'd not want to go out with a man who'd use a 2 for 1 voucher on a 1st date, but would happily snaffle something useful from a skip. Women's logic, eh?!
Just wanted to pop in and wish you and your family a peaceful Christmas and to say how much I enjoy reading your blog - thank you. Looks like we're going to have snow on Christmas morning xx
What a horrible quiz, some of those things are downright nasty. Being frugal is much different from being cheap. You still have friends and are considered a generous soul. I have packed items home (found on side of road), reused tea bags and squeezed the last bit out of the toothpaste. Even brought home shampoo from hotels - we paid for the hotel so should be able to use the amenities that came with it. But I would never run from a bill or haggle in a charity shop, their prices are already fair. Interesting, no wonder frugal has such a bad rap.
