Money was tight when I was a child, we didn't go without by any means but Easter holidays passed at home, no holidays or expensive days out - luckily there were lots of children in the street so there was always someone to play with.

Since then I've never had a lot of money, more than enough to get by, but we don't go on holiday, eat out all that often (although we do enjoy coffee and cake at the weekend) and we live fairly simply so we've both adjusted reasonably well to keeping things simple and doing our bit by staying at home.

Lovely to see you back. thrift deluxehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12267215022924475298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2493748718507781603.post-47267293824546362032020-04-14T22:06:45.990+01:002020-04-14T22:06:45.990+01:00A really interesting comparison. Tuesday is my OHs "day off" so we often go out, wander round a different area, browse in charity shops then come home - or we do what we did today, he did woodwork in the garage, I did knitting. There's a jigsaw on the side and a stack of books to read. We have plenty to keep ourselves occupied. I've written 3 long newsy emails to friends, and cycled to the pharmacy for a prescription. Yes I miss meeting friends, but there is plenty to keep me busy. Neither myself or OH are northerners but we've both known times of living on very low income. I'm encouraged that both my daughters are being wise and thrifty during lockdown, with careful meal planning and wise choices. Yes we are coping, and I would like lockdown to end... But not until it is safe to do so. Keep well, keep safe, dear friend. I know you must feel far from your beloved fenland, but uncle has good friends nearby!
